There has been some concern regarding a "stranger" putting hay in the feeder. The girls asked me to keep a lookout so I set up the GoPro on a 10 second snap shot and here is the result.

La Coop Completed
The build for "la coop" took almost a week, about 4 days longer than planned, but the work shows.
The initial timber used was 4 recycled treated pine posts and these were concreted into the ground using 4 stirrups. The concrete was left cure for a couple of days and then the major build started.
As I wanted to have a raised coop, I decided to use a simple approach with a suspended floor consisting of a backing timber and fibro sheet. This forms the base of the house and is supported by hardwood timber recycled from a deck. Every single nail that was driven into this timber bent as it is almost as hard as concrete. The basic frame of the coop was completed within a couple of days but I had to purchase some pine to complete the structure.
The remainder of the materials included stuff from River Martin, bits from the boat build and scraps around the house. They also include an abandoned BBQ trolley and a pine bookshelf.

The finished product, with snake and mouse wire to protect from those pesky varmints. The "poop chute" allows a wheelbarrow to sit under the front and the material to be raked without lifting or excessive handling.

La Coop
Today the first stone was turned in the epic adventures of the bokboks aka Chickens.
The posts were set in concrete for their new home.
These will form the corners of the luxury villa, "la coop" as it shall be known. For the most part, the materials will be recycled if possible. The posts are old fence posts from Frank and he has also offered aluminium siding to form the outside of the house. The posts are set into half a bag of quick set concrete and the dimensions are 2400mm long ( down the hill) by 1800mm wide. These posts will be trimmed to form the roof height ( that is the 4 big vertical ones, the remainder are just there to hold them in place whilst the concrete sets.
More construction to come.
